Benderson Continues to Grow Sarasota Portfolio With New Acquisition

Benderson Development is starting the new year with a new prime property. The real estate development company today announced the purchase of Glengary Shoppes, a 95,489-square-foot dominant retail center located along South Tamiami Trail in Sarasota, FL. The center is about 97 percent leased with top national brands, including Best Buy and Barnes & Noble.

Benderson owns other properties in the immediate area, including Crossings at Siesta Key (formerly known as Westfield Siesta Key); The Landings, a completely renovated and remerchandised Publix-anchored center; and Promenade Siesta Key, an exciting new mixed-use destination set to break ground soon.

The multi-generationally owned company has been growing its portfolio exponentially over the last few years with acquisitions around the country totaling over $2 billion and more than 10 million sq. ft. Just in the last several months, Benderson acquired Monarch Ranch, a 3,400-acre industrial development site in Wildwood, FL; Linton Commons in Delray Beach, FL; Publix Super Market at Olde Village in Englewood, FL; a free-standing Publix Super Market in Pompano Beach, FL; Bee Ridge Square in Sarasota, FL; and two Trader Joe’s in Columbia, SC, and Asheville, NC.
